Meat orders

Our small flock grazes in the summer and is given locally sourced hay and some grain the rest of the year.

We do not use antibiotics or hormones and breeding occurs naturally. Animals that fall ill and require medications are not sold as meat.

As part of our animal welfare philosophy, ewe lambs are not bred until their second season.

Orders require a $75 deposit for a full animal, cut and wrapped.

The price is $7.50 a pound for lamb (under 1 year).

The price is $5.50 a pound for mutton (older than 1 year).

Prices can fluctuate depending on the butcher and abbatoir costs fluctuating and are based on hanging weight (skinned, eviscerated, no hoof, meat organs in). Generally there is about 30% weight loss through letting the animal hang and cure and then trimming and some bone removal during cutting. Hanging weight is about 40-60lbs for lamb, and 65-90lbs for mutton. Government inspected processing.

Halal processing is possible. Our ram lambs are intact and tails are generally not docked.

Pick up on an arranged date in Mount Albert.

Please note, we never have Easter lambs available.
